Thermal Printing Solutions

Thermal Transfer technology uses a heat-sensitive carbon ribbon that melts onto the label when heat is applied via the thermal printhead. This process produces a permanent, crisp print, making it ideal for long-life labels and applications where labels are exposed to sunlight, heat, or outdoor conditions.

We stock three ribbon formulations — wax, resin and wax/resin — to suit different needs, whether you require a more economical label, enhance durability, or higher print detail. All insignia ribbons meet strict quality standards and feature a unique coating to protect your printhead.

Ribbon formulations

Wax

Wax ribbons are ideal for general-purpose printing on paper labels, making them perfect for carton labelling. Their high wax content gives them a lower melt point, allowing for lower printer heat settings and faster print speeds. Wax ribbons are also the most economical option.

Wax/Resin

Wax/Resin ribbons deliver sharper, more detailed prints on very smooth, coated, or gloss paper labels, as well as some synthetic materials like polypropylene, polyethylene, and polyolefin. The printed image is more durable than wax alone, offering excellent resistance to scuffing or rubbing, common challenges in freight and handling.

Resin

Full resin ribbons deliver sharp, clear prints at high speeds, with exceptional resistance to smudging and scratching in harsh conditions, including high temperatures, corrosive environments, and UV exposure. They are suitable for a wide range of materials, including synthetic and specialty label stocks.
