Since 1993, family-owned and operated company Byron Bay Honey has been supplying natural and authentic honey from the coastal regions of eastern Australia. From their humble beginnings selling through local small grocers and stores they have grown into a well-known brand distributed into more than 500 supermarkets across Queensland and New South Wales.

They produce and jar a variety of honeys from a range of Eucalypt honeys and some Macadamia honey. The change in seasons offers a change in the taste experience with every jar of Byron Bay Honey, with darker and stronger flavours in the winter, and lighter and milder honeys in the summer. While the taste may vary, Byron Bay Honey’s customers can guarantee they will always be getting 100% pure Australian honey in every jar.

Byron Bay Honey have a strong focus on quality. Their factory is fully HACCP approved, and is annually audited for B-Safety – an internationally recognised quality assurance program guaranteeing the highest industry standards.

In the food industry there is a lot of crucial information that manufacturers need to convey to the consumer – from ingredients and nutritional information, to compliance with relevant industry standards – all while ensuring their brand shines through. It can be difficult to tick all these boxes, but with the help of insignia this is something Byron Bay Honey has been able to achieve.

insignia supplies Byron Bay Honey with custom product labels for their honey jars – in addition to promoting their brand, the label is also pre-printed with the ingredients, jar weight and nutritional information. Their labels are made from a thermal transfer paper stock which gives their labels an appealing gloss finish. Before the labels are applied to the jars, Byron Bay Honey overprint the honey batch number onto each label with a Datamax-O’Neil M-Class desktop label printer and thermal ribbon also supplied by insignia.

With their expansion distributing into retailers, Byron Bay Honey needed to update their label to incorporate an EAN-13 barcode – insignia assisted Byron Bay Honey through this change, and as a GS1 Strategic Alliance Partner were able to verify the barcode was compliant with GS1 standards. More recently, in line with mandatory labelling reforms insignia helped introduce Country of Origin Labelling (CoOL) into their label design, alongside their B-Safe accreditation.

The CoOL badge shows consumers where a product has been made, grown or packaged – helping Australians easily identify products made or grown domestically. This reform supports local brands like Byron Bay Honey as it promotes their honey as being made from 100% Australian ingredients – reinforcing consumer confidence in their brand.
