insignia, building the next generation of leaders

Last weekend insignia’s graduates headed up to Novotel Twin Waters Resort for their last graduate conference of 2018. As part of the two-year Winson Group graduate program, graduates from both insignia and Signet participate in two conferences each year. Each conference is centred around a topic of development to provide the graduates with the skills they can utilize throughout their careers - this one focused on leadership.

Throughout the morning the graduates listened attentively as Jack Winson, the Group’s Managing Director, and Evan Powell, insignia’s Head of Customer Experience & Supply Chain shared their insights on the characteristics, qualities and habits that make a successful leader. Following on from the speeches the graduates were given the floor in the Great Debate, with a lively discussion on the tough topics around leadership, such as ‘no leader is better than a bad leader’ and ‘you can be too young to lead’.

With the formal proceedings over for the day, the opposing teams from the debate joined forces in the Amazing Race. Racing through Twin Waters the highly competitive teams battled through seven challenges, from stand-up paddle boarding to blindfolded bocce ball. They used their minds, strength and enthusiasm to get their teams to the end, and all the teams are to be congratulated for the effort put forward. However, there can only be one winner and that title goes to… the Red team!

As the sun went down on an action-packed day, the graduates gathered over dinner with other leaders within the group to build connections and celebrate the successes of the day. A notable mention to insignia graduates Alanah Dowling and Johnson Zhang who both graduated from the program at the conference. We would like to offer you a very special congratulations on completing the program and look forward to watching your careers progress within insignia and into the future.
