Laser

Domino has pioneered the use of sealed CO2 lasers and today is one of the largest international producers of this technology. Through research and product innovation Domino has created laser-coding systems that continually set the industry standard. Marking is achieved by using a laser to etch or vaporise the surface layer of the material leaving an indelible permanent mark. Domino has developed Scribing and Dot Matrix laser technologies that can print text, graphics and variable data onto a variety of substrates including plastic, glass, paper and cartons. As there are no inks or fluids used, laser printing is very cost-efficient and environmentally friendly.

Scribing Laser

How It Works

Domino's scribing lasers such as the S-Series plus, D-Series plus and DSL plus use a continuous laser beam guided by mirrors that are controlled by galvanometer assemblies. The galvanometer technology enables coding and marking onto moving or static products at high speeds.

Key Benefits

  • Superior letter-quality print
  • High reliability due to few moving parts and proven CO2 laser tube technology
  • Consistent quality on stationary and high-speed lines
  • Print in any orientation
  • Unlimited graphical capabilities
  • Minimal maintenance and environmentally friendly

Dot Matrix

How It Works

Domino's dot matrix laser printer uses a proprietary seven laser-tube technology. RF energy is used to stimulate the lasers inside the print head of the DDC3. This in turn fires the lasers to produce a vertical column of seven separate dots that converge onto the product. The system relies on the movement of the product to build these lines into dot matrix characters.

 Key Benefits

  • Very high speed printing of near-letter quality text
  • High reliability due to no moving parts
  • Range of laser-tube wavelengths ensures package integrity while coding onto a variety of materials from labels to PET
  • Minimal maintenance and environmentally friendly

Fume Extraction

Laser marking produces fumes and particulates as the surface material is burned. Fume extraction is essential to remove these potentially harmful by-products from the atmosphere.

How it Works

The DPX range uses a two stage filtration process for maximum and cost-effective filtration. The extracted air is first passed through the pre-filter process which removes the majority of particulates.

The air is then passed up to the main filter which removes the remaining extremely fine particles, and is then filtered through a carbon-layer to remove any harmful gases. The clean air is then returned to the atmosphere.

Sensors in the extraction unit check the purified air before it is returned to the atmosphere. If any particles or gas are detected, the DPX unit is automatically shut-down and an alarm is raised, ensuring that contaminated air is not released.

Key Benefits

  • Compliance with health and safety regulations
  • Ensures a clean and safe operating environment
  • Improved production efficiency and reduced downtime costs
  • Ensures consistent code quality
  • Easy-to-use and maintain
